We have just started working on a Comenius school partnership programme. Our partner is the Athena High School from Trikala, Greece. The project’s title is ” Latin and Ancient Greek traces in European culture and in the English language”.
We are going to investigate Latin and Greek origins of some English and Polish vocabulary and look for ancient traces in spheres of life such as religion, art, science, theatre, literature and law.
The project will help us to trace the common sources of European civilization and understand European cultural continuity. Also, we will make new friends, get to know foreign customs and lifestyles and improve our language skills.
In March 2012 a group of our students will spend ten days in Trikala, a charming town located near historic Meteors. They will take part in project activities, spend some time in the partner school and do a lot of sightseeing.
In September 2012 our Greek friends will visit Bochnia.
Our school has received a grant of 15000 euro.
The authors of the project are Ms Elżbieta Filipowska and Ms Beata Fijał.
